Taaleri Energia makes sustainable investments in utility-scale development and construction projects in onshore wind, solar and battery storage plants.

The Taaleri Energia team is one of the largest dedicated renewables investment teams in Europe. We have expertise in all phases of the project: project development, creation of investment opportunities, technical due diligence, execution of transactions, construction and operation.

We currently manage five private equity funds and have a 9.3 GW porfolio of wind, solar and battery assets in Europe and the US.

SolarWind III

The Taaleri SolarWind III Fund’s investment strategy is to acquire, develop, contract, construct, operate and exit a portfolio of utility scale onshore wind farms, photovoltaic solar parks and battery storage assets across the Fund’s target markets - Nordics & Baltics, Poland & Southeast Europe, Spain and Texas.

The Fund currently owns 60 projects, representing c. 6 GW in net generation capacity, which is approximately four times as many projects as the Fund will construct. Based on the portfolio, we expect to invest c. 50% of the Fund in the Nordics & Baltics, c. 25% in Poland & Southeast Europe, c. 15% in Spain and c. 10% in Texas.

The Taaleri SolarWind III Fund is a so-called “Dark Green” Fund classified as an Article 9 Fund under the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, which means that the fund has a sustainability objective and makes sustainable investments. The renewable energy power and storage plants that the Fund will construct will generate green electricity for around 1.3 million households, reduce an estimated 2.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, reduce air pollution, improve grid infrastructure, create local employment, generate local and state tax revenues and increase energy security.

The project Paistinkulma is Taaleri Energia’s first battery energy storage system investment. Project is located in Lempäälä, some 25 kms south of Tampere in Finland. With a 30 MW / 36 MWh capacity, the facility will be one of the largest battery energy storage systems operating in the Finnish frequency reserve market. The battery energy storage facility will support the balancing of the difference between production and consumption in the power grid by participating in Fingrid's reserve market. In addition, energy storage facilities enable further increase the share of renewable energy in the electricity grid. The capacity of the project has the potential to be doubled in the future.

The project Paistinkulma is one of the Taaleri SolarWind III fund sustainable investments, meaning that the project is EU Taxonomy EU/2020/852 aligned, sustainability is measured and monitored via sustainable indicators and the principle adverse impacts are considered and reported as a fund level. Sustainability indicators relating to the Paistinkulma project measure times renewable energy is transferred into high-demand hours and hours of electricity grid balancing is supplied.
